MYSURU: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah dismissed statements by a few party functionaries suggesting that Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar would assume the Chief Minister's post in November."We must all obey the party high command. I will continue as Chief Minister for five years," he told reporters on Wednesday as he arrived in Mysuru to launch the Dasara procession for a record eighth time.Responding to talks of a so-called "November Revolution" raised by certain party functionaries and opposition leaders, Siddaramaiah said such remarks are routinely made. "They keep making such predictions. But I believe I will continue as Chief Minister for five years. I hope I will be the one offering floral tributes to Goddess Chamundeshwari seated in the golden howdah during the Dasara procession next year as well," he said.Taking a dig at his critics, Siddaramaiah added, "Opposition parties are not astrologers. Without understanding the reality, their predictions will never come true. Everyone must abide by the decisions of the party seniors. I am confident that I will continue to offer floral tributes during the Dasara celebrations in the coming years. They said I would not become Chief Minister for a second time or present the Budget again. Yet, I continued as Chief Minister for a second term and successfully presented the Budget."Speaking about Dasara, the Chief Minister said events like the Dasara air show, illumination of the streets of Mysuru, and drone show have become major attractions. Public participation with joy is what makes the festival meaningful. "With Chamundeshwari Development Authority and the Karnataka Exhibition Authority already in place, I believe there is no need for a separate Dasara Authority. This is my personal opinion," he said. The CM took a tour of the city to witness the special illumination starting from the Ramaswamy Circle on Wednesday night.
